Job Description

 

Position Summary: Provides indirect nutritional patient care, and serves as a nutritional information resource to members of the center. Job responsibilities include coordination and support for the Customer Care Enteral Team, Nutritional Services program administration, sales and marketing support and referral source follow up. Responsible to review all new enteral referrals to insure qualified per insurance guidelines and obtain supporting documentation from MD and/or referral source as needed. Provide initial and ongoing phone consultation to home enteral patients as needed. Accountable for local organization and administration/presentation of the PHC/CSS/LCS Nutritional Services Program, acting as a champion of the program and ensuring that it becomes part of the PHC/CSS/LCS company culture. Responsible for working with the Account Manager to insure growth of the enteral and TPN census of patients. Oversees local Nutritional Services policies and procedures and participates in creating policies when required. Coordinates with the nutrition support team (i.e. pharmacist and RN) and implements field training for PHC/CSS/LCS personnel in the area of enteral. Creates sales tools, newsletter, in-service, patient and referral source educational materials on a quarterly basis as required.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or dietetics, with a graduate degree in a related field preferred. Must be a registered dietitian through the A.D.A. and licensed by the state, as appropriate. Three years of clinical nutritional practice, especially in the areas of specialized nutritional support or critical care preferred. Previous experience on a Nutritional Support Team and certification by A.S.P.E.N. desirable. Pediatric experience desirable.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, and crouching. Frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Must be able to occasionally lift 10 pounds.

MATERIALS AND SPECIAL EQUIPMENT USED: Telephone, computer, printer, fax machine, photocopier, and calculator.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is generally performed in normal office conditions, with good lighting and proper ventilation.
